Account deletion for the Climber Map app.
Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. You need a network connection, because the account is removed on the server.
Email [email protected] from the address you signed in with, and ask for your account to be deleted. We will confirm once it is done.
If you contributed edits to the guidebook — crag and route information other climbers now rely on — those edits stay, because removing them would take away data the community depends on. They are no longer credited to you: your name, email, and account id are erased from the edit history, and the remaining record cannot be traced back to you.
Ascents you logged stay too, as part of the public count of how many times each climb has been done — a count that fell when somebody left would misreport how much traffic a route has actually seen. They are no longer credited to you: the link to your account is erased, and the surviving record is a climb and a number that cannot be traced back to you.
The private note on each logged ascent is deleted, unlike the ascent itself. A note is something you wrote — "my first 5.12, with Sarah" identifies you whether or not it is still linked to your account — so unlinking it would not be enough. Nobody but you could ever read it, and after deletion nobody can at all.
Photos you uploaded are stored without any link to your account, so they carry no personal information to remove.
